The Importance of Confession

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Holding Onto Our ConfessionOur confession is to be spoken forth in faith, and should not be dictated by our fickle feelings. Our words touch the throne of God and move God to work on our behalf, especially if we are speaking what is right. The word ‘confession in the Greek means ‘to speak the same thing, to assent, accord, agree. We are to be saying what God is says in His Word. We are to hold fast our confession; that is, to use strength, to seize or retain our confession, as it is so easy to let the right confession slip away in the midst of adverse circumstances. The right confession is to be maintained ‘without wavering.’
