The Process for calling a New Bishop for the Diocese of South Carolina continues...

On Sept. 16 the Diocese of South Carolina will (God willing) elect her 14th Bishop.

On Sept. 9th, the Diocesan Clergy and Lay delegates gather to interview the 3 candidates.

AGENDA for the "Walkabout" at St. Philip's Church on Saturday September 9, 2006

8:00- Registration
10:00- Opening Prayer, Welcome and Introductions
10:15- Opening Remarks by Each Nominee (15 minutes each)
11:00- Nominees Respond to Questions from the Standing Committee
12:00- Lunch Break
1:00- Questions from the Floor (note: Four microphones will be placed on the nave level. Questions will be taken in order, alternating microphones. Please line up at the microphone closest to you, and you will be called on in turn. During this session, questions will be answered by all three nominees).
3:00- Open Questions continue, but may be addressed to a single nominee.
4:00 Benediction and Dismissal.

A WORD ABOUT THE ELECTING CONVENTION
On Saturday, September 16, we will again gather at St. Philip’s Church. Registration begins at 7:00, and a Continental Breakfast is provided.

The Holy Eucharist will begin at 9:30. Balloting will begin shortly thereafter. Congregations and clergy will have assigned seats. There will be a roll call. As each priest’s or congregation’s name is called, an usher will retrieve the completed ballot. Each eligible priest has one vote. Each Parish has one vote. Each Mission Church has ½ vote. To be elected, a nominee must have a simple majority in both orders (clerical and lay).

Reminder: Kindly turn off all cell phones and pagers.

There are restrooms in the parish hall.
